Eumavia Lovaniensis

Songs

A special student tradition is the singing of student and folk songs. Like other traditions, the Eumavia's repertoire has developed along with its history. In the early years, mainly German student songs from the Allgemeines Deutsches Kommersbuch, and later also from the songbook of the Cartellverband of Catholic German student fraternities, were sung. As traditions were called into question during the 1970s and 1980s, these were often replaced by scout, left-liberal or English songs. After the move to New Louvain, many French student songs were added as well. Today the Eumavia's repertoire comprises both old German and contemporary French, Flemish and English student and folk songs. Two songs are of particular importance to the history of the Eumavia: the so-called Founder's Song and today's Bundeslied.
